The 1700's were just as bad as the 1600's. The majority of the population of America were either indentured servants or slaves. By the 1700's indentured servitude began to decrease as slavery increased. Wealthy people liked the control over the impoverished African people. The wealthy white men made the impoverished African have a terrible life of labor. This life of labor was very harsh in ways that made the slaves want to escape. The slaves were considered forced immigrants and they had to perform forced labor. The slaves were considered the impoverished because the European traders took everything they ever had.
Immigration was starting to become a big deal in America. People from all over the world wanted a piece of America. The immigration made America become a huge melting pot. The immigration made the population skyrocket which increased the impoverished percentage. People came over to America to get rich quick and it ultimately failed. People wanted new jobs and freedom yet America was still too young to realize that too many people wanted what only a few could have. This increased the poverty rate tremendously.
Immigration, both forced and unforced, made the poverty rate increase. The labor that people wanted was only available to few and the labor that was unwanted was forced amongst the African slaves. Poverty in the 1700's mainly revolved around the immigrants and the people who came to America for work and did not get work. Immigrants had a preconceived idea of freedom and of what America was really all about. This idea faded when they arrived in America. People from all over wanted the freedom concept to be completely true, but they did not understand that the European Americans were racist and made all African Americans slaves. The foreign language speakers did not get an appealing wage because they couldn't understand. All of this led to lack of freedom towards others and making the poverty rate increase.
